Being a mom is a full-time job. Between school pickups, scraped knees, and endless snack requests, finding time for yourself can feel impossible. But for McKenzi Greer, motherhood didn’t pause her fitness journey—it redefined it.
At 41, this Huntington Beach-based mom of three and NASM Certified Personal Trainer is living proof that strength, balance, and motherhood can thrive side-by-side. Whether she’s chasing her boys around the park or powering through squats with her BodyKore Squat Box, McKenzi brings purpose and passion to every rep.
Fitness Fills Her Cup
For McKenzi, fitness isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s her mental reset. “Even just 30 minutes of a workout for me as a mom helps me so much mentally and physically. It allows me to give the rest of my time to everyone else,” she shares.
Her journey into fitness deepened after having kids. With each pregnancy and recovery, she realized the value of movement not just to bounce back physically—but to reclaim her energy, strength, and sense of self.
Ditch the guilt, moms—it’s OK to prioritize you.
One of the biggest hurdles? The mom guilt. “At first, I felt bad taking time away to go to the gym,” she admits. “But I’ve learned it’s OK to be a little selfish. It’s not just about being fit—it’s about being healthy and the best version of myself for my family.”
Her advice to other moms who feel overwhelmed? “Start small. It can be a 10-minute walk, bodyweight exercises, even chasing your kids at the park. Set small goals and build on those wins.”
Leading by Example
What drives McKenzi the most is her boys. “I hope my fitness journey shows them that healthy habits are key to living a full life. I want them to know that confidence and resilience come from committing to themselves and that self-care is important.”
She’s already seeing it pay off in proud parenting moments. “When your kids start mimicking your workouts or remind you to go exercise—those moments mean everything.”Life-Changing Reminder of Strength
In 2022, McKenzi faced one of her greatest challenges: emergency spinal fusion surgery. “The doctor said if I walked out of the hospital, I could lose the use of my legs. That was terrifying,” she recalls. Her fitness level played a major role in her survival and recovery. “My surgeon said being fit helped prevent things from being worse.”
Lying in that hospital bed, McKenzi thought about everything she’d miss out on if things didn’t go right. “I had to fight to get back—not just for me, but for my husband and my kids.”
Now fully recovered, she’s back to training six days a week and finds joy in helping others rediscover their strength, just like she did.
A Mother’s Day Message From McKenzi
To all the moms out there feeling stretched thin and unsure where to start, McKenzi has a message: “You’re doing a great job. Juggling kids and life is hard and thinking about getting healthy is overwhelming. Little steps add up to big steps as you put yourself first. Your kids deserve a happy, healthy mom!”
